Spanish Camino

Day 1

We will have our welcome dinner, and pick up our very important document – our Pilgrims Passport

Day 2

17 Km walk from Hospital de Orbigo to Astorga.

An easy first day on the Camino de Santiago walking through the páramo, that will allow you to fully enjoy the monumental city of Astorga, a city with a great history having been founded by the Romans in the 1st century B.C.
Astorga is where the Southern Camino de Santiago coming from Seville along La Via de la Plata merges with the French Camino way.

Day 3

12 Km walk from Rabanal del Camino to Foncebadón ( Iron Cross ).

From Rabanal, you’ll leave the territory of Astorga and slowly enter El Bierzo.
The Camino climbs through rolling mountains to the Cruz de Ferro, a symbolic five meter monument, crowned with an iron cross sitting upon a heap of stones.
Don´t forget to bring your stone from home and let’s put together a little ritual in front of the cross.
The Camino winds its way down to the picturesque village of Molinaseca, known for its pretty riverside location and Romanesque bridge where we will have lunch.

Day 4

13 Km Walk from Vega de Valcarce to O´Cebreiro.

This morning you’ll venture to Galicia via the hike to O Cebreiro, a stunning mountain village in a region of outstanding natural beauty. After a chance to explore the hamlet, a nice lunch will be waiting for you before we head up to our location for tonight Samos.

Day 5

15 Km Walk in the Winter Camino from Praia da Coba to Chantada

We head to the Ribeira Sacra gorge that runs steeply up from the Sil River for a walk in the Winter Camino.
Surrounded by terraced vineyards that show you the power of a The Heroic Wine Harvesting, slopes with up to 80% inclination that gives superb wines.
We will finish our walk in Chantada and after lunch we will head to Portomarin, our spot for the night. CheckIn in your Hotel and free afternoon / time for teaching or exploring the town

Day 6

15 Km Walk from Palas de Rei to Melide

We leave Portomarín, this morning you’ll be driven in a 30 Minutes transfer to the lively market town of Palas de Rei to begin today’s glorious walk.
The town of Melide is a great place to try Galicia’s classic dish of octopus in one of the many “pulperías”, there we will have lunch and after this is up to you if you feel fit enough for another 10 Km to get to Arzua or jump in the van..

Day 7

18 Km Walk from O Pino into Santiago

Last transfer of this tour, 15 Minutes to reach the start at O Pino where you’ll start your day of walking.
Your next point of interest is Lavacolla, where pilgrims used to wash themselves in the river in preparation for their arrival in Santiago. Rows of tall eucalyptus trees line your journey to Monte do Gozo (“Mount of Joy”) and it is from here that will catch your first glimpse of the Cathedral of Santiago. When you arrive in the city, you will get a chance to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site’s architecture and delight in the wonderful atmosphere of this spiritual and cultural mecca.

We will spend one last night in our Hotel after a wonderful Goodbye dinner, and after breakfast the next day say Goodbye to our pilgrim family
